How Managers & Supervisors Benefit…

… From Skillful Facilitation

Inviting a facilitator to help manage your meeting does not mean you are giving up power or responsibility. The benefits of handing off responsibility to a neutral facilitator for managing a challenging or even a routine meeting include:

  1. The manager can participate more fully – bringing her knowledge and skills to bear on identifying issues and resolving solving problems, rather than manage the meeting itself.
  2. She can share her own views without concern for dominating the conversation thereby losing valuable contributions from others.
  3. A neutral facilitator tasked with tracking key outcomes and decisions brings closure and clarity allowing the manager to identify next steps that need to be revisited and/or key items that might be missing altogether.
  4. If difficulties arise the whole group can benefit from the observations and suggestions of a skilled professional facilitator.
