Behavioral Health and Emotional Well-Being

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides UCSC students (both graduate and undergraduate) with a range of on-campus mental health services, including short-term individual and couples counseling, group counseling, crisis assessment and intervention, and referral services. They also provide preventative outreach and consultation services to the UCSC community. Graduate students may call 831.459.2628 to schedule an appointment (or to discuss referral of an undergraduate student).

CAPS counselors are available to provide assistance with a wide range of issues, including:

  • Stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Loss and life transitions
  • Family or relationship challenges
  • Eating and body image concerns
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • Issues related to oppression, discrimination, or harassment
  • Personal identity issues
  • Recovery from trauma
